We worked closely with the client and users from brief development through to post-occupancy, to deliver a sustainable and adaptable home for the Useful Simple Trust companies, that exemplifies our collective commitment to the useful, ethical and intelligent design of the built environment.
The layout enables and encourages a range of uses and activities to take place within the rhythm of the existing floorplate, which is established by a grid of hefty exposed concrete columns. A skylight disrupts the grid to provide a large creative, social space at the heart. The space is responsive and easily adaptable to the professional, social and cultural needs of the Trust.
Efficient use of natural and recycled materials inspired by the industrial heritage of the building are complimented by bright accent features. This approach, combined with re-used furniture, a focus on wellbeing and sustainable delivery practices contributed to securing SKA Gold accreditation for the project.
