Useful Studio have been appointed to develop a Sustainability Plan for Nationwide Building Society's Property Services (NWBPS) team.

As the custodians of their offices, branches, and administrative sites, Property Services plays an important role in supporting the Society’s sustainability objectives.

Working with the support of the wider Useful Simple Trust and colleagues in Useful Projects, the Plan sets out an overarching sustainability mission, targets and milestones across three key pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. Across each milestone, a delivery strategy specific to Property Services’ key activities has been established. This includes refurbishment, development, and facilities operations such as catering, cleaning, and procurement.

This was followed up with collaborative design and development workshops where we reviewed the baseline and set achievable objectives, milestones, aims and actions. As part of the Plan, we are creating an internal narrative to set out the positive work NWBPS have already enacted in generating renewable energy. This incorporates interviews amongst their teams and suppliers, establishing where they are already implementing initiatives such as plastic-free administration offices.

Our outputs include a document tracker dashboard which sets out the approved objectives, milestones, and aims for NWBPS within the three key pillars. To aid them in documenting their results, we will also be implementing a tracker where they can report against the actions that have been defined.
