Eleanor is a fully qualified architect with a passion for design. Her experience, in all sizes of project up to £50M, has allowed her to enjoy all aspects of the design process from concept to completion. Whilst interested in a broad range of project types, Eleanor has extensive experience in the education sector.
Prior to founding her own practice, Honeycomb Architects, in 2008, Eleanor gained the majority of her working experience at Foster + Partners. In the role of Project Architect, she worked primarily on education projects, including the design and construction of the RIBA award winning Thomas Deacon Academy, Peterborough. It was on this project that Eleanor met Catherine Ramsden. They have maintained a strong professional relationship and continue to collaborate with Eleanor acting as a Consulting Director for Useful Studio on the delivery of key projects.
The rigorous values and exacting standards practiced at Foster and Partners permeate her approach to work while the more personal and dedicated client relationships that one can develop in a small business are important to Eleanor and aligned with the ethos of Useful Studio.
Eleanor studied architecture at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow during which she spent a year on exchange at the Ecole Speciale d’Architecture in Paris. She remained in Paris for a further year, working for Odile Decq Benoit Cornette architects on a range of exciting conceptual projects, prior to returning to Glasgow for her diploma and Masters degrees.
