Jess is an Associate Director at Useful Studio, where she plays a key role in both the day-to-day running and strategic delivery of projects. She is leading the College on the Coast project, an exemplar low-carbon, low-energy 16+ college and specialist construction skills centre, designed to be lean, efficient, and deeply rooted in its context.
She is motivated by the challenges of complex briefs and leads projects through all stages with a focus on collaboration, clarity, and technical resolution. Jess brings experience across education, commercial, and heritage sectors, with a particular interest in retrofit and sustainable design.
Jess studied at Cardiff University, where she now teaches as a fourth-year design tutor. She is committed to fostering thoughtful, responsive and responsible architecture through both practice and education. Outside the studio, she enjoys making ceramics, visiting galleries, and travelling.
