Supporting JRA Architects as SKA Assessor in a sustainability-driven workplace fit-out scheme for x+why in Manchester.

100 Embankment is an outstanding example of a sustainability driven fit-out scheme in the workplace sector.

Useful Studio was appointed by x+why to work alongside the JRA Architects-led design team as SKA Assessors. From the early design phase to handover, the project aimed to and did achieve SKA Gold status, the highest score in the SKA Sustainable Certification scheme for commercial fit-out.

Our expertise in material reuse, the circular economy, and a pared back approach to design added value to our role.

The shared passion and commitment to this innovative project was evident throughout the entire design team.

Our client, Phil Nevin, co-founder and CCO of x+why, commented: “All our spaces are designed and operated as industry-leading green workspaces, with every element designed in collaboration with purpose-driven brands. The spaces are not just for charities or not-for-profits, they are aimed at any person or business who is committed to a more impactful and positive way of working.”
